Solar Hot Water Rebate
The federal government is offering a solar hot water rebate. In addition to Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), a federal rebate of $1,000 is available for the upgrade of electric hot water systems to solar hot water systems.
The government solar hot water rebate is not means tested but it only applies to existing homes, as new homes and construction are excluded.
The federal solar hot water rebate is only applicable to people who haven't already accessed support to install ceiling insulation through the Homeowner Insulation Program.
- You will be eligible if:
- You are replacing an electric storage hot water system.
- The dwelling where the Solar Hot Water system is being installed is your principal place of residence. (Tenants may claim this rebate with permission from the landlord). Applicants must be 18 years or over.
- Your Solar Hot Water system is eligible for at least 20 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) at the time and place of installation. Good news, with Modern Solar, our minimum system is eligible for at least 19 RECs.
- Your system is installed by a suitably qualified person (for example an electrician or plumber). More good news, Modern have you covered here too, all of our installers are licensed and accredited plumbers and electricians.
- You are not a Government organisation.
To be eligible for the government solar hot water rebate you must agree that, if requested, you will provide evidence to support claims made in the application as part of an audit process to ensure you have met all program guidelines. For example, proof of system installation or allowing an authorised representative access to your property may be requested at a later date.
