Solar Power Sydney
There is no doubt that Sydney has embraced solar power – installations of solar panel systems in New South Wales ballooned from 2900 in 2008 to over 50,000 just two years later, with a significant number of these taking place in the state's capital.
Each year, more and more Sydney households and small businesses are discovering that switching to solar power is their best option for reducing power bills and helping to tackle climate change. And – with improvements in technology and government solar rebates available – solar power in Sydney has never been more accessible.
Sydney solar customers can take advantage of the Federal Government's solar credits scheme, which issues additional small-scale technology certificates or STCs (an electronic form of currency, formerly known as Renewable Energy Certificates or RECs) to households and businesses with small generation units. For Sydney solar power customers – who benefit from the city's dry and sunny climate – this can translate to a saving of up to $3720 on the upfront costs of solar panel installation (depending on the market price of STCs).
There are also incentives for those installing solar hot water in Sydney; in addition to generating STCS, eligible Sydneysiders can collect a $1000 rebate from the Federal Government for upgrading an electric hot water systems to a solar hot water system.
With so many good reasons to switch to solar power, the only challenge Sydney homes and businesses face is choosing an accredited solar installer that offers the best quality at a reasonable price.
